Feels like a lifetime since I updated my blog so after some encouragement from back home I'm taking this time to sit in the aircon away from the 36 degree heat and let you know what I've been up to in the Big Apple.

After a relatively comfortable 8hr flight from London and New York and then fighting the traffic from JFK I arrived at my hostel around 5pm on June 26. I settled into my room and headed off for an evening walk in the Upper Westside where I was staying. I found a diner, had a ridiculously big burger, a couple of buds and headed back to the hostel around 11. I had a relatively early night as I had a big few days ahead of me in the city that never sleeps.

Day 2 saw me was downtown to battery park and I took an hour cruise around the harbor taking in Ellis Island, statue of liberty and Brooklyn bridge. After this I jumped on the open top sight seeing bus to take in some of the major sites of downtown and midtown before taking a walk through wall street on my way to the downtown heliport. At 4pm I took my 25min helicopter flight around new York. Unfortunately due to game day we couldn't fly over Yankee stadium but was still an amazing way to see the city and the monuments. After this I headed back to the hostel got changed and headed into to check out times square and the theatre district. After a big day of sight seeing I eventually hit the pillow around 1am and got some z's ahead of yet another big day.

Day 3 I headed to Empire State Building observation deck, then spent the next few hours shopping on 5th avenue before heading over to Macy's for a look. I also checked out grand central station. Mid afternoon I headed to top of the rock, the observation deck at the top of the Rockefeller centre. Both observation decks offer amazing views of this amazing city. I headed back to the hostel for a clean up before heading into the theatre district to watch the amazing Lion King musical before hanging out in times square and soaking up the atmosphere of this crazy place.

Day 4 I finished my shopping, sent my presents home and then spent the next few hours wandering and exploring central park. Friday night meant one thing, Yankees at Yankee stadium! Although they went down to the white sox it was still an amazing experience.

Day 5 I decided to take a trip out of New York and check Washington DC. We took in the major monuments including the Vietnam and Korean war memorials, Abraham Lincoln monument, George Washington monument, Capitol hill, White House, Madame tusards and air and space museum before heading back to NYC. Saturday night I headed into Hells kitchen with some peeps from my hostel and had a fantastic and very late night getting home around 6am.

Day 6 was a very lazy day checking out the northern half of central park I didn't get to the other day before heading to soho and Chelsea neighbourhoods for a look. Sunday night was a lazy night in talking shit over a few drinks before hitting the pillow around midnight.

Day 7 I had breakfast in central park, lunch in times square before doing my laundry and writing this blog! Tonight I am heading into midtown again to head up to the top of the rock again but this time for a look at new York at night :) it will be off to bed as my airport transfer will be here at 340am because it's off to Vegas tomorrow!

So how have I enjoyed my time in NYC... Let's put it this way, this is the first place I don't want to leave! Even with Vegas as my next stop, new York is such an amazing place and I am so glad I came here. It is unlike any place I have been before or probably will again. I've been to big cities, Sydney, London, Paris, Rome, madrid, but NYC is in a league of its own.

Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes your a car.
