If you reading this expecting to hear about history, architecture and Spanish food, wait for my next blog because I was in Barcelona for none of those reasons. Sun, beach, women, parties and Fatboy Slim is what Barcelona is about this time of year.

So arriving from Italy on my cruise at around 730pm Wednesday evening I jumped a cab to the address Tiffany had provided for our hotel. I arrived to find the Santa Marta pub, not the Santa Marta hotel. Some quick but expensive googling and I found the correct address for the hotel which was about a 15min walk away. I found the hotel, had a clean up (2 days in the same clothes wasn't the fun bit of the cruise) and we headed down to the beach front to find something to eat and have a few quiet drinks. Most dangerous saying in history is a few quiet drinks but I'll get to that. We had a feed (funnily enough at the Santa Marta pub I had accidentally gone to earlier) and some local sangria. With a fully belly and our thirst quenched we decided it was far too early to sleep so I had to say goodbye to my pluggers and threw on some more appropriate footwear and we headed for a wander down to the famous La Rambla to see if we could find a pub with a cold beer. We found a couple and at our second pub, around 11pm we somehow ended up agreeing to join a pub crawl and our aim at a few quiet drinks was over in one peach schnapps shot. 4 pubs and a club later we had a fantastic night and stumbled home in the early hours of the morning, but not before making a few random friends including a guy from America at the ATM. I am hoping tiff has put our lovely pic up by now.

Needless to say we slept in a little on Thursday morning but managed to surface before lunch to a beautiful day in Barcelona. After an unsuccessful shopping to La Rambla we headed back for the waterfront for a cold drink and some shade to escape the Barcelona heat. We found a great place right on the beach where we enjoyed a beer, and another few and before you knew it we had had dinner there and spent near on 5 hours talking shit and taking in the breathtaking views of the barcelona beach. Not a particularly productive day but a fantastic holiday day if you ask me. An early night ahead of Sonar was also achieved whether by accident or not.

Friday came and again wasn't the earliest start however with the night we had ahead we needed to rest up. We again ventured off in search of shops and although the pink jeans didn't fit me we did manage to get me some cheap sunnies and tiff some orange lipstick ready for Sonar. We had a preparatory nap and some dinner before getting ready for Sonar Music Festival! Now I do apologise for the hideous seedy mustache, but it had to be done! Money, tickets and ready to party we jumped the bus to Sonar around 11pm, yes you know it's going to end well when the festival starts at 11pm! We got some drinks, checked out the venue before tearing the place up to Jack Beats, Annie Mac and my god Fatboy Slim as well as a few other local acts. I have put up a couple of videos to give you a taste including the start of Fatboy Slim where I lost my shit! So good! After watching the sun rise with the festival still going we made our way back to the hotel eventually crashing around 730am (estimated time only). What an amazing night! Needless to say there was nothing of note that happened on Saturday as we recovered and Tiff sought a hug from her mum to make her head stop hurting. Sunday we tackled the bus tour, had a lovely dinner down by the marina and kicked back on the beach reminiscing on our time in Barcelona and looking to what adventures we both separately had to come.

My day today has been very mundane with a few photos taken and some laundry done. Tiff flew home to London this morning and I am getting prepared for my more culture experience starting a 4 day, 3 night tour of Catalonia on Tuesday morning.

Barcelona delivered everything I wanted and more, even if I am left feeling slightly beaten and bruised. A beautiful, colourful and crazy place :) would never leave it off a Spanish itinerary.

Couldn't get the videos to work on here so will post them on Facebook.

I thought this one was appropriate seeing tiff was with me in Barcelona :p
