Smallest yet richest country in the world. With only around 800 permanent residents (80% men) the Vatican city is a different world. I managed to cover the main three tourist parts, being the Vatican museums, the Sistine Chapel and St Peters basilica including the climb to the top of the dome.

First off I started with a guided tour of the Vatican museums seeing pieces from Michaelangelo and Raphael of course amongst many other famous artists. Each section of the Vatican has a different style depending on the era and pope that added the sections. We spent around 2 hours exploring this section of the Vatican before moving onto the fabled Sistine Chapel. Michaelangelo isn't a bad painter considering he is a sculpture. A true genius he was. The Sistine chapel is everything you imagine and more. I didn't mind that you can't take picture, although there are always going to be iPad wielding idiots from america and Asia, because the chapel is something that needs to be seen with your own eyes. After spending around 20 minute in there admiring its beauty we headed off to St Peters basilica. Now in my near on 2 months in Europe I've seen my fair share of churches, but this one takes the cake. Wow. To try and describe the size and ora of this place would be impossible. Again Michaelangelo's Pieta features highly and I found it equally as impressive as the Statue of David, if not more. But of course the genius behind the majority of the basilicas brilliance is Bernini. Whilst a list of architects designed and worked on the basilica (mainly because they does during the long construction) Bernini was the true genius of this place. His touch is everywhere and it's amazing. He also designed Piazza San Pietro out the front of the basilica. Once the tour had concluded at the front of the basilica I jumped in the line, which was surprisingly fast, and climbed the 530 steps to the top of the dome of St Peters basilica. Well worth the climb with breathtaking views of the amazing city of Rome and the private gardens of Vatican city.

I'm not a particularly holy person but this was a great experience.

(had to go with this one for Vatican city)

Jesus loves you....but everybody else thinks you're an asshole :)
