My mid morning train out of Verona had me in Venice around lunchtime so with a quick check in at my hostel on the grand canal I had plenty of sunlight left in the day. Plenty of time to get lost in the streets of Venice. I bought my 2,50 euro map of Venice, stuffed that in pocket without looking started my aimless wanders. I figured Venice was as good a city as any to get lost in for a few hours. A couple of hours into my wanders I found a laundry that wasn't far from my hostel so I decided I better do the responsible thing and do some laundry as I was starting to run low on clean clothes. With my domestic duties out of the way I headed back to the hostel for a clean up before heading out for a feed and some more aimless wandering. As the the weather wasn't the best the photos were limited as it was supposed to improve the following day. After a couple of hours getting to know my Canadian roommates midnight rolled around and it was time to hit the pillow.

Saturday morning arrived and brought with it some much proved weather. So I headed off to the royal gardens to meet my walking tour group. We kicked off with a visit to the basilica and then off around the many piazzas that make up the lovely city of Venice. Of course St. Marcos square featured heavily in the tour as it does in many famous films. The tour concluded around 1pm and I had 4hrs to kill before my afternoon cruise in the grand canal. I did some more wandering and managed to find yet another way back to the hostel to kick off the walking shoes and relax for a little while before heading back to the royal gardens to meet up with my group again for the canal cruise. The canal cruise lasted for a little over an hour and gave a great view and history into the city of Venice. At the conclusion to this I grabbed a feed at the nearby osteria before heading back to the hostel for a clean up and an early night with my day trip to the dolomite mountains ahead on the Sunday.

As Sunday was taken entirely by the dolomite mountains and I had an early train to Florence on Monday this was essentially the end to my time in Venice. Obviously Venice is an amazing place and yet another must do if you come to Italy. As amazing as it is, I still prefer Verona. It's cleaner and the locals are much nicer. Hope you enjoy the pics :)

Love is like a fart. If you have to force it, it's probably shit.
