Today was tour-on-the-bus day. We used the Explorer bus that we've used so successfully in the other cities and were not disappointed. We saw many sights but probably the one you'd least expect (unless you know Richard well) was the Alfa Romeo dealer (which also happened to be the Fiat dealer!!). We've seen many Alfas here and Richard was interested in seeing whether he fit in one. Thankfully he didn't. After seeing many of the more touristy sites ( Kelly Tarlton's Antartic Encounter and Underwater World, Bastion Point Lookout, Holy Trinity Cathedral, the Domain and Museum, Eden Gardens, Westfield Shopping Centre, the Auckland Zoo, the Museum of Transport & Technology, Parnell Village, the Civic Theatre, Victoria Park Market and the Sky Tower) we hopped off at the Viaduct harbour because there was a Food and Wine Festival - what great timing!!! It was great fun sampling foods and a couple of wines whilst listening to an Elvis Presley impersonator. Of course we also had to check out the mega-yachts moored in the harbour. Tonight's dinner (can you believe it's our last in New Zealand?) was at Pastis, a lovely French restaurant. We ran into a rugby team from Calgary back at our hotel. I feel like the end of the trip is closing in on me.
