Our original sailing plans on "She's a Lady" for April 1 changed due to inclement weather and we toured by car instead. April 1 is the sixth anniversary of my retirement and I can't think of a better way to spend it. We happened upon an MG meet - approximately 100 MG's from Australia and New Zealand ranging in age from 1931 to the present. We explored the Waitangi Treaty Grounds where the treaty between Maoris and England was signed and later took the car ferry to the quaint town of Russell. We ran into our Australian friends from Melbourne there again. Amazing.
Apr. 2 we boarded a bus at 7 AM and drove for 12 hours of exploring "Northland". The most fun was driving along Ninety Mile Beach at 110 kph. Richard then tried sand tobogganing down a sand dune into a quicksand freshwater stream. He lived to walk out on Cape Reinga with me where the Tasman Sea and Pacific Ocean meet. We observed conservation officers spying on divers fishing for paua shells. Lunch was at the Houhora Sportfishing Club where I saw huge stuffed fish. Kauri were also featured today with visits to a museum of 50,000 year old swamp kauri and a reserve forest of living trees. We were exhausted but found the energy to enjoy scallops and snapper for dinner and then join Murry and Rosemary for a glass of wine.

Fun!
Glad to see that the fun hasn't stopped as the trip comes to an end. Sand tobagganing eh? Sounds exciting. The glow worms sounds neat too!
I can't believe (Mom) you've been 'retired' for 6 years...unbelievable. At least you're making the most of it ;)
Look forward to chatting when you get home.
Have a safe flight back.
