Tried feijoas for breakfast - a first for us.  They look like elongated kiwis but with a smooth green skin.  According to Wikipedia they're also called a pineapple guava.  Today's highlight was our visit to the Waitomo Glow Worm caves and our stay "on the farm" with Colleen and David.  The glow worm caves are limestone caves complete with stalactites and stalagmites and the Waitomo River running through them.  In our group we had an opera singer who sang a Puccini piece in the cave they call a cathedral.  It was so echoless and pure it brought tears to my eyes.  We boarded a boat to see the glow worms - in the dark they looked like thousands of stars in the sky.  They are actually larva and they use the colour to catch insect prey.l  At the farm Colleen took us through their tree garden.  We ate a wonderful home cooked meal with them - so appreciated when you're on the road - and chatted to bed time.  This was "Lights Out" day around the world and we tried unsuccessfully to find the Southern Cross.
