Trekkin' the Track
Entry 32 of 57 | show all | print this entry |

I guess it was too much to expect two days in a row of sunny weather and believe me this morning it was bucketing down rain and howling a gale. Eight other brave souls donned rain gear with us and ventured out to hike Day 1 of the Milford Track - to Clinton Hut. You travel by coach and boat to the start of the Track and by the time we were to return the sun was out. We had to watch the rapidly rising Clinton River to make sure we could get out but all was fine and we saw fantastic temperate rain forest and great wetlands with sundews - imagine! Tonight it's load of laundry - we got quite muddy - but we did it. Sans blackflies!
Have we mentioned the blackflies yet? They are called sand flies here, but they are good old Ontario blackflies and they bite like them too!
