Perspiring in Port Douglas

Picked up our "hired" (rental) car today and spent the morning in Cairns waiting to meet Sybil Cumming at noon who was returning from business in Sydney. Then it was heading north on the Captain Cook Highway to Port Douglas where we walked a section of the Four Mile Beach. We're at 16 degrees latitude here and the combination of hi temps and humidity has us a tad wet. I'm really enjoying the tropical rainforest vegetation and the ocean is the warmest I've ever experienced. You have to swim inside nets that keep out "stingers" The nets are adjusted for tides by lifeguards.
Still can't get photo downloads in the computers we have available to us. Please be patient.
Where I stayed:
Palm Villa Apts

Are you Still There? (reply) Feb 29, 2008 01:29 EST by gdg
Just wondering if everything is OK since your last entry that I can see is Feb 23 and up to that point you were writing every day/so. Hopefully you are either just relaxing enough that the diary isn't high priority, or you've been having a hard time getting an internet connection. Take care. Gina

Jealous in Mississauga (reply) Feb 25, 2008 20:24 EST by landg
It's great to follow your travels. Sounds wonderful. Today I'm suffering culture shock as it was my first day back to work. I miss the warm Pacific ocean, the whales and sea turtles of Hawaii. I'll have to live vicariously through your blog.

Phoenix Report (reply) Feb 24, 2008 12:09 EST by gdg
Sounds like you're finally getting some warm weather and memorable sightseeeing. M&D are doing just fine and are enjoying hi 70's to low 80's weather and M has been swimming in the pool - Dad's hasn't due to bad balance. We're leaving Mar. 6 to drive there (with our dog). Extremely busy at work and travelling to Sacto as usual. Phoenix very green right now due to several rain showers - altho' ... show all
