We took off from Pearson on time at 6:55pm Friday. We had a great flight to Heathrow that went even faster with a very strong tailwind at our back. It was a good thing to because the security at Heathrow took a VERY long time. I'm not sure if they are always so strict and vigilant, or if they are on heightened alert because of all of the protests lately, but it was pretty intense. Eventually we were on our second flight on the way to Vienna. We were very happy to find our bags waiting or us when we arrived at 1pm - you never know how it's going o turn out when you fly through Heathrow. We hopped in a taxi and made our way to the Hotel Mozart. We dropped our bags and went exploring! We walked around and took pictures for about 4 hours. The centrum was really nice with lots of shopping and pedestrian only streets. We also saw a huge and beautiful church. Some of us (me) were having a very hard time staying awake. We stopped for coffee and my head almost hit the table.

We arrived back at the hotel by 6pm for our first group meeting. Our guide is actually from Athens, but she has led this tour many times. There are 3 Aussies, 1 woman from Delhi, and 6 Americans. It seems like a good group but you never know who might get on your nerves after a few days! While we were having our meeting we heard a lot of yelling and shouting outside our hotel - apparently another protest by Muslims. We'll see if this affects our tour at all.

We went to a restaurant that was close to our hotel for dinner. The food wasn't the greatest, and neither was the service, but at least it was a good price. A quick stop at McDonald's for a brownie and then it was off to bed. Tomorrow we are out the door at 8:30am for a orientation walk, so we will probably find out what we were looking at today.

But now I have a long overdue appointment with my head and the pillow...
