For the romantic, the legend says that Tocum lost the battle for Cari's hand, at which point Cari killed herself. Her father the chief, distraught over this turn of events, also killed himself saying "Tocum-Cari, Tocum-Cari".
It's probably some mundane thing like lookoutpoint, or buffalo hunt, but for the dreamer in us.

Having left Ok City early this morning to a very cold fog, we bundled in four layers of every material we had. Fifty degrees sounds balmy after a Michigan winter, but not at 75 mph for 8 hours. So we again hit the super-slab heading for Amarillo, TX. A very low ceiling kept it cold and misting most of the day, but any real rain again went around us. Trying to make up a little time the only sight-seeing was infamous "Cadillac Ranch". Too cool. A local told us this guy also has a pool table you can only see from the sky, but complete with sticks and balls. oookay...

Tucumcari, NM hasn't changed much in a lot of years, other than a truck stop on I-40. Many businesses still closed for season. A very good look at how things were, once upon a road.

Tucumcari
One of my favorite Eastwood movies 'For a Few Dollars More'....Lee Van Cleef line:

'This train will stop in Tucumcari'.

Have a blast bud...stay warm.
