The flight with Swiss Airlines took just 1h20 between Basel, Switzerland and Prague, Czech Republic. The Hotel we stayed in was centrally located on Vaclavske nam. a large boulevard with restricted traffic and walking distance to the Old Town Square, Astrological Clock and Charles Bridge.
Prague gets the thumb up as on one to the top most beautiful and popular Cities in Europe and if I haven't seen them all, I have seen many beautiful cities in my years of travel.
There are loads of tourists from all nationalities, enjoying the summer temperature and the long daylights.
This is a City where you can spend hours walking (on paved streets) in traffic free zone into large boulevards or narrow colourful streets, admiring superb buildings, monuments, bridges, river walks, enjoying the splendor of Prague Castle with its Cathedral and passing a multitude of open air restaurants.
Yes, its touristy, filled to overflowing most days with tour group, street musicians, festivals and other entertainments.
And it does not stop at night time when thousand of people gather around the medieval astrological clock. The clock wasn't  used to tell time; instead it was meant to mark the phases of the moon, the seasons and the Christian Holidays. At the top of the hour, two doors slide open and the 12 apostles glide past.
From Old Town Square is a 10 min. walk to Charles Bridge which was built in the 14th and 15th centuries.
Crossing the bridge will get you to the Lesser Town and from there to the Prague Castle complex which include both the Royal Palace, the residence of the early kings and St Vitus Cathedral.
The best way to see it all (if you have the time) is to take the hop on, hop off tour bus. The ticket is valid for 2 days and include a one hour boat trip on the river.
The fast metro is also useful and is FOC for people over 70 !
If that is not enough, modern trams will take you wherever the metro does not.
Prague was of the highlight of my European adventure.
