Mark... ...when you pay BIG bucks to a Shipping Agent called "International Cargo Solutions" to ship two motorcycles half way around the world? The answer is... you get nothing! I guess we were being optimistic that the motorcycles would be waiting for us in Basel when we arrived on the 10th April 2006 because the Shipping Agent said they would be there. No, instead the ship didn`t stop in Australia as it was supposed to, so the motorcycles were shipped to NZ. Then the same ship didn`t have room for the motorcycles and so they were shipped to Singapore on some other ship! Then probably back to NZ and back again to Singapore (who knows?) As a result of that fiasco... the motorcycles were going to arrive two weeks later in Basel around the 30th of April. The weather wasn`t particularly great in Switzerland so we decided to spend the next 2 weeks in Morocco (see our next entry). Of course when we got back... what do you get when you pay BIG bucks to a Shipping Agent called "International Cargo Solutions" to ship two motorcycles half way around the world? You know the answer... nothing! Of course the motorcycles are having a great time. They are seeing most of the world several times over! Going to places we could only dream about. This time the ship didn`t feel like carrying two motorcycles so left them behind in Singapore, NZ, Africa, or was it Turkey? Who knows? Even more disturbing either does the Shipping Agent. The revised arrival date has been set to 22nd May 2006. But being ever optimistic... what do you get when pay BIG bucks to a Shipping Agent called "International Cargo Solutions" to ship two motorcycles half way around the world?

At least you did'nt use Maersk...
Hey there Marky Mark

Conincidentally, I am currently temping at an International Shipping & logistics Company - Maersk. They have just acquired P&O NZ. I'm working in the documentation team and believe me....everything is a shambles. If you had used them and the ship went enroute to NZ...well you may never see your bikes so thank your lucky stars!

Still I understand and thats no good. Your letter was pretty mild compared to some of the letters they're receiving over here! - It must be very disappointing for your father as well. Still.....I'm glad you guys are getting to experience another fascinating city. Tell Mel to 'Whoa back child' on the shopping!...maybe she could pick me up a nice trinket..or two? - catch you soon. Looking forward to more stories...
