Mark 2000km in 4 days...from Istanbul to the border with Iran. It has been very sad without our "co-pilot"... my Dad. Thankfully we left him in Istanbul with a definite plan of getting home which he was happy with as well. Iran is ahead of us. All the "bad" news and stereotypes fill our heads but we know it won't be true :-). Tomorrow we will see!
Our route...
Day 1 : Istanbul to Amasra 482km
Day 2 : Amasra to Unye. Lots of curves and a slow 624km! Tried to leave Unye after dinner but got caught in a HUGE traffic jam some (apparently) 50km long! After waiting for an hour or so we unloaded the bike and pushed it across a deep ditch (with the help of some locals) to the other side of the road. Back to Unye for a sleep!
Day 3 : Unye to Erzerum 514km
Day 4 : Erzerum to Dogyebeyazit 318km. Rain... we seem to be averaging 1 day of rain in each country we have visited. Turkey being no exception. Thankfully it has never lasted more than an hour!
