Eric I had a preconceived idea that the Monument(s) in Gallipoli was in one place.
After crossing the channel by ferry from Cannakle, we got a map showing the locations of the numerous monuments spread out over a wide area. The long mural (see photo) was one of the most impressive and summarised the event that took place on this part of Turkey.
Of course the Anzac Cove was not to be missed and I could imagine the ceremonies that take place here every year on Anzac day.
It was a long but rewarding day.
Mark...would you like to write anything about Gallipoli Mele?
Mele...I'm eating my Turkish Delight... stop annoying me!
Mark Gallipoli was great. A Little hard to fathom at first that it really is more of a monument for the Turkish People (who make up most of the tourists there!) but it was their land that they were defending. ANZAC Cove was a memorable place for all of us... what a terrible waste of life.... do you hear me MR BUSH! Check out the words on one of the photos from a great Turkish man of some greatness (because of those great words?)
