Eric's Guide to Camping in Europe

ITALY
Generally fairly average.Value for money: 2 out of 5. The price you pay is per person, plus vehicle, plus tents. We paid between 27 and 46 Euro for 3 persons, 2 motorbikes and 2 small tents, all on one camp site. Sometimes the locations are good but the noise level is bad.
Here are some of my experiences:

Venice: No sleep! Some 200 young people came to the camp by bus, got drunk and sang to the top of their voices from 10 pm to 3 am. I got up at 2 am. Went into the middle of the group, told them off, (which was effective for 30 seconds) and then it started all over again.

Sorrento: No sleep!
Loud music not far from the camp, kept me awake until 3 am.

GREECE
Ioannina: No sleep!
The camp is by the side of the lake.
The loud music down the street is echoing over the lake and kept me awake until 4am.

Olympia: No sleep!
Wedding party going on nearby. Gun fire starting at 10 pm followed by continuous loud Greek music till 4 am. followed by a rooster thinking it was time to get up, followed by the local Priest pulling frantically on the chord of his Church bell.
I don't want to hear one more Greek song ever again (at least for next few days)

Athens: No sleep! Very busy and noisy 6 lanes road. After 6 pm. The cops have gone to bed; It's racing time!
The tempo is increasing and so is the noise level. Hear plugs don't help.

Turkey - hopefully no camping!!!
