Eric This the base from which we can visit Meteora, a Monastic City of Rocks. It stands as the most important and the largest centre of Orthodox Monasticism.
Around the 14 century, the first Monastery was built on the largest rock amongst the forest of rocks. Since then, another 24 monasteries were built, though a few have become ruins.
This could well be the highlight of our trip in Greece. This place is amazing!
Our camp site position in the village of Kastraki ( N39* 42.765' E021* 36.778' Elevation: 240m.) is again well set up and quiet. At the camp, we meet some nice people from France and Austria.
The Monasteries are not far from the above position.
Total distance travelled so far: 3830km.
