Sorry its been awhile, but we`ve had some trouble finding a computer! (plus the fact were in love with Bordeaux and dont want to miss a moment of what it has to offer!)
Madrid was a blast! The highlight for us was the first night we got there. It was La Noche en Blanco, you can see pics of that from our previous entry. We bar hopped, learned crazy dance moves with thousands of others in the giant squares, and enjoyed lots of beer and wine. Museums were open all night and neon lights lit up the city. People and music were everywhere!
Over the next few days we saw some of the most famous masterpieces at Del Prado Museum, rowed a boat in the middle of a beautiful park (and met beautiful Parisian boys). To end off our journey through Spain, we splurged on tickets to one of the best Flamenco shows around
After a long day of traveling by train and bus, we made it to Bordeaux. We all agree that Bordeaux is... ummmm (weve been sitting here for ten minutes deciding which words appropritely describe this magical place, but WE CANT think of an adequate metaphor). Its just wonderful, ok??? We`ve never been so freakin in love with a place before. If Bordeaux bent down on one knee and proposed we would all say yes.
We immediately decided to extend our stay in Bordeaux. Before the departure of our 4th eh girl Emiliano, we shopped around the streets, drank tea out of real china at ¨un autre salon de thé¨ and enjoyed a wonderful dinner along the water (thanks Chuck). The mornings here include long runs along the canal, and making awesome breakfasts of oatmeal and fruit. We rented bikes and explored the city. We toured around the loveliest park where we drank milkshakes. Then we decided it would be fun to try to bike to the vineyard area. We failed miserably and rode our bikes home.
Yesterday was the highlight of Bordeaux. In the early morning we caught a bus to St. Emilion. We weren`t sure at which point we entered into a fairytale. Imagine walking through cobblestone streets, hearing classical opera, and seeing doves flying around church bell towers. Every breath we took was filled with the aroma of baking. It was intoxicating
As a side note, after being in Europe for awhile, we think we have a handle on what each of our callings are in life.
Lisa: to become a wine connaisseur, and ideally own a vineyard that also produces salt and vinegar chips
Mieke: to become a world-famous photographer who manages to take fabulous pictures while she runs
Hailey: to patent anything that could possibly be mixed with nutella, maybe even write a cook book
Emily: to own and decorate a quaint tea shop in an undecided location (who knows, maybe Bordeaux)
Andrea: to settle down and become a stay-at-home mom of sextuplet boys (hahah andrea we know thats not true, but it sure is funny to imagine!)
Next stop is Paris!!!
mieke, hailey and beyoncé
merlot, cabernet franc, and cabernet sauvignon
(ps. lisa was compared to beyoncé by a french man. Look closely im sure youll see the obvious resemblence. hahah we were as confused as you must be)
