At Aros Castle we stopped to look at the first of many ruined houses that litter Mull. I think the BBC should give me a series where I drive around the country in Beddie with the hounds, finding ruined houses and doing them up. Each episode would only take about 6 years to make and would be excellent Sunday evening viewing.

Also at Aros we found dozens of tiny dead, desiccated crabs on the beach which I collect for someone who is going to love them. Difficult to know what happened but a couple of birdwatchers I met on returning to the shore with my bucket ventured that an exceptionally high tide might have marooned them in the grass. Sounds plausible to me. Crabs would be rubbish on grass. I mean, how many Premier League footballers are crabs? Well OK there's Peter Crouch but apart from him? You really need feet or paws or hooves for that sort of terrain.
