We've arrived! Past the drug sniffing beagles, through the x-rays and even had our tent de-seeded and cleaned free of charge. Despite the fact that we were the only non-asians having our bags critiqued, we passed the scrutiny and walked into the open at the friendly hour of 1:40am.

Let's see, what do we know about New Zealand? They are a small country. Sheep outnumber people 20:1. Lord of the Rings was filmed here. Earthquakes rocked Christchurch. They supply the world with frozen mutton. North Island volcanic. Maori were giant cannibals.  Bungy jumping and zorbing invented here. Pavlova may have been invented here;) Kiwi's are a bird and fruit and a nation of people.  Flight of the Concords is from here. Our cousin lives here!

This charming lady and her husband were the ones to meet us at the airport at that ungodly hour and take us back to their little place in the country.

Besides doing all the normal things we need to do when entering a new country (bank machine, SIM card) we're going to do a few more 'cultural' things. So in honour of learning a bit more about this place, we're dedicating our time in NZ to visiting LOTR film sites, re-watching LOTR and for a bit of variety, also watching FOTC :)
