Don't really have any first impressions of Bangkok except to say it's BIG! 9.1 million
what I recently read. 25 minutes on the sky train from the airport didn't get us very far. Tried to find a bus connection, but failed miserably and gave up after taking directions from 2 separate people. So we just took 2 more trains and walked.
Busy streets, still wearing Scottish clothes, we couldn't find the guest house soon enough! Here we were, proud as punch about the since of our small bags and my shoulders were still aching! Brian's pack was a whopping 12.1kg at the airport and mine rang in at 9.6. Now before everyone
thinks I'm being the wussy 'girl' know that I was also carrying the 2 cameras, Brian's doodle-pad, the Kindle and journal in my camera bag to carry on.
Weren't hassled too much by tuk-tuk drivers or street vendors, but perhaps we're comparing it to Egypt, the last overseas place we were travelling.
Quick dinner at the guest house and to bed it was. Silly Brian didn't get any sleep on the plane. As soon as it was daylight (and we were flying into the morning) he was looking out the window to see the landforms below. At one point I woke up to find a perfectly dark cabin full of people trying to sleep through the night, except for one window beaming a shaft of bright light. Yup, that was Brian.
