Procedure One: Find a dentist
Our dear friends knew a friend who knew a dentist who spoke English (helpful in this situation). When trying to call, we couldn’t get through. After several attempts, a few days, and a new number there was success. They were even willing to fit Brian in between appointments.
Procedure Two: Find the Office
First step was taking the bus to downtown. There are several minibuses that rush along the Cornish - all packed to the hilt and driving at breakneck speed. The hardest part is hailing one down and fitting yourself in. Then the next challenge is trying to get it to stop!
Procedure Three: Entering the Office
Wandering around with some vague directions, our friend stopped to ask what appeared to be a homeless person for directions. I’m sure he wasn’t as he gave perfect directions along several streets, and soon we were climbing a narrow dark staircase up 3 flights while Brian joked about what Egyptian dentistry might be like.
Procedure Four: Get Teeth Checked
Called into the office almost immediately, Brian was amazed at the high tec equipment and efficiency all around. Who would have thought that we would travel to Egypt to go to the Dentist! Not only was it beautiful, efficient, and competent, it all came at about a 5th of Canadian prices. And just to ensure that we return someday…there is a gigantic bowl of candies sitting at the reception desk before you leave.
