I rented a snorkel mask and flippers and gave it a try. Strangely, as much as I love swimming, I’ve never snorkeled. Brian’s always been into it and I think I remember trying it once, but didn’t like it at all. On a choppy lake I kept getting water in my snorkel and in my mask and I just couldn’t master the breathing underwater thing.
So much to see! Brightly colored fish were everywhere doing their fishy business and not worrying about me at all. Florescent yellows, indigo blues, reds, oranges, greens…it was amazing to see. Looking from one direction to the new led simply out into water that just gets bluer and bluer, with only the occasional diver bubbles breaking through it.
What an amazing underwater world God has created! I find it hard to believe the beauty there. I’ve always been fascinated with shells and other under sea things, but to see it alive is quite a different experience.
Like another planet. All the different shapes and colours of coral. I can imagine I’m living within an aquarium, but everything is out there for you to touch. Not that you’d want to of course, most things will sting or scrape you or otherwise harm you. Strange how something so beautiful can be so dangerous at the same time.
