Last night of rest before all the campsites close.  It was the last campground that I’ve found that is open all year long.  Found out today that the ‘Aire du Service Camping’ that I had found as a back-up are reserved just for ‘camping cars’ not tents.  WTF?  Why can caravans camp for free anywhere they want and we can’t???  The internet connection at this campsite won’t work for me so I can‘t search for anything else. Emails to the next helpx family keep getting bounced back.  Brian’s bike is set itself on self-destruction (front fork, and pedals  - again!), and he says if something else goes wrong he‘s going home.

I’m about ready to cry!

Thankfully the Dutch campers next to us are playing some very peaceful music and I’m able to hold it together for a little bit longer tonight.  That, and the vast quantities of wine I’m consuming…

The next morning I tried very hard not to think about our upcoming obstacles and worry all day.  Instead, I chose to trust in God.  To heal Brian’s bike (why not?), and to lead us where He would for us to spend the night.

So I just pedaled.

We were out of the campground an hour earlier than usual, so that meant that we had about 10 minutes of cool cycling before the heat of the day hit us.  Out of beautiful Bordeaux wine country we were traversing on major roads - not as picturesque, but direct and well paved.  We are now carrying 3-4 Liters of extra water with us as we have been running out midday.  Amazingly, I’m not noticing the extra weight.  My legs seem to have finally got with the program and are not causing me difficulty any more.

Past a couple of cycle shops and Brian was able to get a new set of pedals - one off the list.  Also passed a Decathlon.  They had a front fork system, but Brian decided against replacing his right now.  So he’ll just keep on truckin’ and trustin’.

Later we rolled into the town of Tonneins, right past the Information du Touristic, which was still open after 5pm!!!  Went in to ask about camping.  The municipal campground in town was closed - as of today.  But there was another Toutes Annes campground just 4-5km in another town that we could camp at.  A nice quiet place (with showers - most important).  And wonder of wonders, it’s on a canal route that’s going in our direction!  Looks like some smooth sailing for the next little while.  God takes care of His children!  Even tiny little details like power to charge the camera and computer (every other campground has outlets we can’t plug into), and toilet paper (don’t laugh - my meager supply was running very low)

The end?  Is just the beginning.  Onto new adventures and mystery that never stops!
