Curious about how my body and weight have changed over the last month of cycling I went to weight myself on the scale, but could not read the result 9:81/2. Weight measure is in STONES!
Wanting to help out the family and contribute, I thought I would do some cooking. There's a beautiful vegetable garden overflowing with produce - especially 'courgettes'. Looking up a recipe on-line I was already to go. With list in hand I marched off the 1/2 block to the 'village shop' and remarkably was able to attain the necessary supplies from the one small shelf they provided. However, upon return I ran into a little obstacle. No measuring cups or spoons. Everything is measuring with grams and ml. Milliliters I have used before, but grams were only ever written on the package - they did not have a relevance to measuring for me. But armed with conversions in mind, scale in hand, and 2 small children at my side, I was able to make a right good mess of the kitchen! Even though amounts and ratios looked inconsistent to me, it all worked out in the end and we used up a large amount of courgettes!
I really miss having a garden. There's something amazing about watching a seed grow to a plant and finally produce food. And something very pure about cooking with the food you've grown. And the creativity that comes from the necessity of using up the fruit in season. Courgettes for every meal!
So we had some wonderful creations for 'tea' this evening. I still can't get over that...If you're having 'tea', should you not actually consume tea? Apparently not. And dessert is called 'pudding' regardless of what is being served...
