A beautiful sunny morning motivated us to get an early start for Holyhead to catch our ferry to Ireland.  Arrived after only one small mishap.  Brian took a wrong exit off a round-a-bout.  I noticed right away and tried to catch his attention, but to no avail - he was too far ahead of me.  No matter how loud I yelled or rang my bell, he did not hear.  Unfortunately, Brian was 'in the groove' on his bike and was uncatchable to me.  By the time he decided to stop for a rest it was about 5km at the end of a dead end road and I was a furious mess!  We will need to figure out a better way of communicating with one another and staying close in case something else ever happens.  Even with the detour, we arrived in Holyhead in good time.

A bright and sunny day I tried to catch as many rays as possible knowing that rainy days are coming...1/2 way across the channel the boat became enshrouded in fog and we could barely see the water 20 feet from the boast's edge.  Not a reassuring entrance to Ireland.

Newby travelers made their grand appearance toady.  We arrived in a new country and large city without any planning.  We must have left our common sense in Wales.  We had maps and campsites marked all up until Holyhead and nothing further.  I figured that there would be information at the ferry terminal and a B&B that we could book.  Use it as a base to explore Dublin, get our grounds for a few days, use some WIFI.  I was wrong.

We had no idea where to go in the city, and there was no lovely tourist information at the ferry terminal.  Being Sunday, the tourist information office in the city was closed, and we were left with no idea what to do.  Going blindly, we stumbled downtown which was very busy and not bike-friendly at all.  Walking along the sidewalk we found a little shop and paid and outrageous price for a useless map.  Using this, we tried to at least find our way out of the city and find a campground or something.  This proved more difficult than we'd ever imagined.  Talking to a fellow cyclist we tried to glean some directions; however upon setting out, the luck of the Irish was against us.

Stopping to talk to people and ask for help is becoming 2nd nature now.  Thankfully everyone in Ireland is just as friendly as we've been told.  We had men buying papers helping us read the map, ladies in convenience stores running through the parking lot to find their husbands, and people stopped at traffic lights offering advice.  However, all the best intentions in the world didn't help us find a place to stay.  Bought another map - this one showed some limited campgrounds.  Street names are not posted, and traffic circles don't make sense.  The amount of times we backtracked and tried again are impossible to count.  I even stopped at a bus pick-up to look at their map with 'you are here' sticker, only to find we were not at all where we thought we were...

Finally we gave up with street names and maps and looked at landmarks.  Eventually we came to the campground, but from the opposite direction we were expecting.  I really didn't care at that point - all I cared about was rest and food.

But we were far from done.  It started to rain just as we were setting up the tent...After setting up we notice there's a huge garbage storage area behind our tent which smells...Go to look for showers and they're PAY showers...Have a shower, and I'd paid for cold water...Start to get supper ready and our stove is clogged and Brian has to take it apart...TWICE...
