It was also time to get a little fresh food. I had brought all of our dehydrated goodies on the plane so we had quite a bit to start with. I want to get quite a bit of couscous as it is super quick and very filling. I also bought some food to cook a dinner for our wonderful hosts
After the ‘chores’ were done we took a bus into Manchester to roam the streets there. Mostly we took pictures of ironwork. Walking around with 2 blacksmiths it seems you can’t walk 5 feet without something of interest! Brian is in heaven seeing all of this in daily use - and the REAL stuff too! So many beautiful buildings with marble, iron, ceramic, and stone to gaze at while we walk. Jim showed us the town hall with the widows walk where he made 500 scrolls.
Walking down the pedestrian only streets was a great way to people watch. There seem to be no major ‘styles’ of clothing to which people adhere. Everyone seems to make their own style. It’s very refreshing to see people looking ‘normal’ and not out of a fashion magazine.
The ride back to Oldham was lots of fun as we were able to ride at the front top of a double decker bus. This is only the 2nd time I’ve been on one of these (1st was in Hong Kong). I love the views as everything seems to get run over by the bus.
