Pretty similar to the last airport, but with a few more interesting tidbits.

Grant gave an American Dollar as a tip to someone who helped with our bags (you have to work very hard NOT to get help whether you want it or not) so as not to use up our Birr before getting to another bank.  I watched this guy and a friend inspect the money for a good long time.  Later, after we had checked in, he came up to Grant with an English speaking friend asking for another Dollar.  Not in addition to the one that he had, but a replacement.  We have had American money refused before and I think he was worried it wouldn't be worth anything.  We tried to reassure him that the money was good and that we didn't have any more, but he was quite disappointed.  Even the banks won't take currency dated before 1999.  Make sure when you travel that you have nice, new, crisp bills!  Funny, since they take the oldest and rattiest Birr I've ever seen!

While we were waiting to board, we notice one lady go out into the checked baggage that was on the tarmac waiting to be boarded on the plane.  Soon after, another woman went out to go into her bag as well!  Apparently, they had packed some items in their carry on that was not allowed (not water though as we all had full bottles with us).  Instead of confiscating the item, they let her through and into the area with everyone else's bags to stow the forbidden item!
