Sucre

After the mine tour, we shared a taxi from Potosi to Sucre with a guy called Simon. Complete luxury but it only cost about four pounds each for the three hour journey and meant we didn't need to wait around for the bus. The scenery was spectacular which confirmed we'd made the right decision not to get the bus at night when we wouldn't have seen anything! Driving into the town centre we were all stunned by how stunning Sucre was, white buildings with colonial architecture, set into the Andean mountains. We checked into the hotel just in time to see the others from our salt flat tour who were waiting for a taxi to the bus station to go to La Paz. They reccommended we check out a French Restaurant called La Taverna.
After a quick shower to rid ourselves of the ghastly smell of the mine, we headed out. There had been glorious sunshine all day but just as we stepped out the door the heavens opened, complete with thunder and lightening and we arrived at the restaurant (which was pretty damn fancy) a bunch of drowned rats. The reccomendation came up trumps and we all had the most amaxing meal, two course with wine for about four pounds each. Bargain! We then headed back to make use of the cable tv in our room and watched a random movie on the Hallmark channel!
The next day it chucked it down again, we braved it for a short while and had a wander around the city centre but then gave in and headed to gringo pub Joyride to watch the football which made Neil's day! While we were in the pub we discovered they were showing a documentary film there that night about the Potosi silver mines called the "Devil's Miner" so we ended up sticking around for that. It was amazing and really hit home the things that we'd seen the day before. Katie was glad they'd done it before seeing the film though as she wouldn't have gone down if she had!
More rain the next day, we got drenched treking up to the Mirador to get a view of the city, which was rubbish cause of all the rain clouds so headed back to Joyride for more football and a coffee with baileys to warm up while we waited to catch our bus to La Paz.
