Jack and I, on a walk through the town, were given some flower petals to throw into the sacred lake for good luck for us and our families. Initially we were skeptical. However, after the man left us in peace and with directions towards the sacred lake we thought otherwise. So we innocently made our way towards the lake full with good intentions. There we were greeted by a Hindu priest and his helper. We were then separated in order to carry out the spiritual ritual, which involved a chant and the throwing of petals, rice and sugar into the lake
So because we didn't want to offend we carried on with a spiritual ritual where we expected to part with some cash. After the priest and his helper became agressive towards us because of the money we were happy to donate, we then "donated" more money than we were comfortable with to avoid confrontation. A lesson learnt: don't be scared to offend.
Otherwise Pushkar was a nice place to chill out in.
