We actually saved the best for last. Yangshuo was our favourite place in China, it is a small town in between hundreds of green hills and mountains, yellow fields and the Li River.
Although we spent 5 days here, we didn't get to do or see as much as we wanted.
After Jack had recovered from his Chinese fever we decided to rent some bikes and make our own way into the mountains. It was an amazing day and the best thing we did. We cycled along the road and saw local people sell fruits, flowers and do rock climbing. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery and the nice weather and could have probably kept on cycling for hours and hours but after about 6km we reached our destination - the Moon Hill. Moon Hill is a moon-shaped rock that you can climb and from the top you get a beautiful view of the valley
That was pretty much the only trip we did. Today, after our Tai Chi lesson, we rented bikes again and wanted to cycle to Fuli. Fuli is an even smaller sleepy old town but the weather didn't want us to get that far. After about 3km it started pouring down with rain. We tried to find shelter under some trees but the leaves were so soft that every raindrop came through. After we were literally wet to our knickers we turned around and cycled back. We couldn't get any more wet anyway so we didn't bother waiting for the rain to stop. Obviously it stopped once we reached the hostel.
Oh well, at least that means we have to come back one day. All together we had a great time, we met nice people, enjoyed the buzzing evening markets and the local noodles as well as some beer fish.
Now it is time to say Goodbye to China. Tomorrow we are leaving to Nanning to catch a bus to Vietnam (hopefully the day after). We are leaving with a laughing and a crying eye (to get a German expression in :) ) but it was definitely not the last time we will visit China.
