Backfilling a little on our adventures in Costa Rica..... we spent a couple of days up in the cloud forest which was a chilly but amazing experience. Unfortunately we deleted our photos from guatemala to chauita except for the blog ones we had uploaded already. lucky for us, we shared the best photos with everone here so we only really lost some amusing jim pictures, some art photos of granada, and our animal spotting adventures.

we went on a night hike in the childrens rainforest in monteverde. this is the forest that we all donated to back in the '80s or had to eat chocolate bars for... anyways it has snakes, tarantulas, sleeping birds, glow worms, and (so were're told but have yet to confirm) 2 toed sloths (called pelizoso in spanish - literally means lazy bear).

the next day we went for a "self indulgent package-tourist adventure 'experience'" zip-lining through the cloud forest. zip lining is when you strap yourself into a harness, hook yourself to a steel cable and (if you're lindsey) swoop gracefully through the trees and land on a platform in the canopy or (if you're simon) rocket through the canopy like an unguided missile and make a disgraceful landing by crashing into a tree at 30kph. three times. and once into un unwary guide. the pictures were a bit wobbly.

we decided it was time to head back to the carribean so we spent a few days in cahuita camping in the peaceful fruit-filled garden of Dona Irma and getting over the lurgy we picked up. We spent a day in the national park...and....dur dur dur....spotted our first and second and third sloth.....Linz's promise came true - see the pictures for proof. We were incredibly lucky as the sloth climbed right down to eye level and hung around (literally) mugging for the camera. they move so lethargically and look so chilled out they totally earn their spanish name.

Next stop Panama
