Well finally we made it back to the sun sun sun and are now in Utila in the Bay Islands a carribean divers paradise with white sand, plam trees and lots of fish! Betsy is relaxing on the mainland in the company of George, a Greek, US ex pat who has a lovely place on the beach just outside La Ceiba.
Before we left Guatemala we went up north to Semuq Champey where there is a national park with a natural limestone bridge and several cascades its a pretty special place in the middle of nowhere. We stayed at a great hideaway called el Retiro in a place called Lanquin where we also did some inner tubing down the river .... and nearly got swept away downstream. great fun! It was 10km down a very steep and scary unpaved road but Betsy did us proud. We decided to skip the Carribean side of Gutemala as a crucial bridge was down so made our way into Honduras via Copan and some more ruins {I think we are now ruined out though}.
Simon is completing his open water diving course as I type so it will be good to have a dive buddy for the future - Nic and Darren do you fancy another dive hol in the next few years - I have mainly been fun diving, waving to turtles and drinking cubre libres. We are finally back in the land of Flor de Cana rum. Yippee. So all is good - tans are improving and the Carribean life is sweet.
