We hit up mexico city´s zocalo, park, and anthropology museum with a vengance. for a huge city it is actually quite pretty, with many opportunities for cheap and delicious street food - culture - and beer!
Toltecs, olmecs, aztecs, mayans, zapotecs, mexicas we cant remember what order but they did some pretty cool sculptures, pyramids and ceremoial altars. they used a lot of bright colours and intricate carvings (some depicting human sacrifices granted) that were amazing to see.
Following this Simon fell down a manhole and badly twisted his ankle so we postponed the ruins for a day and the following morning he managed to limp around Teotihucan and up the worlds 3rd largest pyramid. Impressive and we both had achy legs by the time we´d finished. Oh and we managed to have a curry in Meixco city and it wasn´t half bad!!!
ps.

hugo´s advice ´look for a stall that is busy and where people seem to know the owner´ has been effective so far

Mash with refried beans, cheese and shredded grilled steak
blue corn tortilla quesadillas
pineapple and mango fruit cocktail
Tacos of various sizes.
aqua fresca (flavoured water drink)
- horchata - nut milk (a bit rich for linds)
- Berry blend (very refreshing)
- pineapple (liquid fresh pineapple)
