We left san blas and stopped in Tequila for a tour of a factory followed by a tasting - and bought an obligatory bottle of tequila. executive summary: Each blue agave plant when mature (8 yrs) can produce 12 litres of distilled tequila. sometimes it is mixed. 100% agave tequila is the way forward (no hangover? extensive testing has yet to commence)

simon remembers: the ever-present smell of the distilleries cooking agave.

We passed through Guadalajara on our way to Pararacho.
                      Through The centre
                             the VERY centre
                                   In Heavy traffic
                                             On a Saturday

We concluded the day at athe cheapest hotel available
it was posh for the price
        it had covered garages.
and a maximum stay of 8 hours.

We arived in Sunday - market day - in Paracho known for some of the worlds finest handmade guitars. The town square was beseiged by local indians selling fresh food and handicrafts. it was outstanding. every other shop sold guitars of various qualities. Simon bought a very acceptable guitar for $1400 pesos (about 75 quid) which lindsey will be learning to play....

we spent 2 nights in the public park being fawned over by a very friendly restaurant owner named francisco (pancho) and his brother a lawyer-international chef-ice cream salesman who made great efforts to dismiss the rumour that mexicans are lazy by working from 5am until midnight every day. (oven doing business sat at a table drinking beer...)

we went onward to mexico city via some lovely little towns and left old bets in an outlying city. see road report about guadalajara.
