The rain that started overnight continued as we started the day. The temperature was in the low 40s.  We decided to go about the day as planned.

We drove the Red Rock Parkway, a scenic drive to a beautiful canyon and some interesting hikes.  The weather was still nasty, with the temperature dropping to 38 and windy.  We put on our rain-suits and hiked anyway.  There were two hikes, one through the Red Rock Canyon, and one to Blakiston Falls.  The hikes were both worth doing, but we would  have enjoyed them more in better weather. We were cold and damp so we headed for a hot lunch in the motorhome.

The afternoon weather was no better.  But Jane had a conference call for Scouts mid afternoon.  We went to the Prince of Wales Hotel, and she called in from a pay phone with an 800 phone number. Jim relaxed and read a book in the beautiful lobby.  It was warm and dry.   After that respite, we drove the second scenic drive of the day, the Akamina Parkway to Cameron Lake.  It was a nice drive, but rainy.  We saw a grizzly bear on the side of the road.  When we got to the lake, it was rainy, very windy, and cold.  We got out of the car and could barely see the glacier on the opposite shore with the snow down to the lake waterline.  It is hard to say whether we got wetter from the rain or the water being blown from the lake.

For a change, we went out to a nice restaurant for dinner.  We had delicious  bison short-ribs with roasted local vegetables and a nice bottle of wine.  It was a great end to the day.
