December 17th
Well, what a night, after clear clean
roads and sunshine all the way to Denver, we were reintroduced to
winter just as we entered Oklahoma. The snow was coming down good,
covering roads, filling motels, and waking up snow plough drivers.
We pushed on, and after a few 100 kms and coming close to running out
of fuel for a second time, we were safely in Texas, south of the snow

We settled in at yet another 5 star
truck stop, complete with all types of fuel, clean wash rooms and
some big trucks to park between., Hazel looks so cute between the big

The drive this morning was going pretty
smooth, well until the small town of Robert Lee Texas. Hazel forgot to slow down as we went
through a school zone, Constable Martin pulled us over, and we
convinced him we would not let Hazel go so fast through school zones
any more. He wished us an enjoyable trip and we were on our way.

There are quite a few signs welcoming
Cathie and I to Texas, with cute photos of Deer beside them, they
must know Cathie and I like animals. The sign doesn't have our first
name, but does say “Welcome Hunters”

Progresso is suppose to be the safest
border crossing, with an attractive Mexican town just over the
border. We expect to be in Progresso Texas tonight, around 10:30, and
cross the border early tomorrow, and head to Tampico on the toll

Here are a few photo's and a video of
today's travel, I hope you enjoy them.

Ross n Cathie.

That's a lot of miles to cover in 3 days.
Glad you're past the snow.
Thanks for posting.

You guys are sure racking up the miles. Watch out for the big trucks in the truck stops that you don't get hit.

Nice job sweet talking Constable Martin. Drive safely - looking forward to the next post from Mexico!

Patty N on

Was it Kona that talked the nice constable out of giving his owners a ticket???
Sounds like the adentures have just begun!!

We enjoyed the photos with the last entry but can't find the ones that you were going to send with this entry. Enjoyed your comments very much - especially about Con Martin. I'm anxious for word from Kona - don't see anything from him yet. How are you so lucky to get a toll road out of Progresso!

Phil on

Hi Hunters,

Haven't seen any pictures of Kona so far. I'm guessing that the 3 dark spots on the map must be Kona!

Have fun...

Hi guys, hope you made it safe and sound to Tampico. How does it feel to be in good old Mexico again. Eagerly waiting for your next blog. It is cold up here, hard to believe that somewhere it is warm.
Love you guys

Glad that Hazel was able to sweet talk the Constable. Look forward to hearing more. Wish you safe and fun travel, but no Godspeed :)

The unwritten version...what Cath really showed the constable so as not to get a ticket...haha!
