Hi all
Yep we are on the move again after staying in Bavaria longer than planned we loved it so much the people and food were fantastic what a great part of the world my understanding of the language has improved heaps anjd just as I've sorted my eingangs from my ausfarts we arec on the move.
Today we rode from Rosenheim to Innsbrook in Austria then onto St Moritz in Switzerland.
If you want to drive on the Freeways in Austria you have to buy a toll card and put a sticker on the windscreen, 7.70euros for 7 days the minimum allowed, might be cheap fuel but they make up for it.
As for the swiss there were big customs stops and road blocks but they just waived us through perhaps pity for two old farts on an old bike?
we stopped for petrol to encounter the only pre pay so far and almost 2 euro per litre, in Germany it was 1.44 and Austria 1.22 thankfully we have a bike that only needed 14 litres to fill in switzerland.
We passed through St Moritz with its big lake and concrete buildings after Bavaira we think this is very over rated too sterile.
On advice from our friend Irene we followed the back roads through the Alps to Italy only to go down the tightest of mountain passes, I pointed out some scenery to Linda and all I could hear in delicate tones was bugger the scenery just watch the road!
The mountain pass is called the Majolapass.
It was like going down a ride at the royal show good job we fixed the brakes, we are now at Mandello de Lario in a hotel over looking Lake Como our room directly over looks the lake, hows that for romatic!, did I mention that the Moto Guzzi factory is in Mandello and they have a big museum?
When we were in Germany and Austria the weather was good but cool as we dropped into Italy it got warm very quickly tonight is still approx 20.
We have gone to Italy and missed Croatia because of the weather forecasts for Croatia and advice from our friends.
Thats all for now when we can work out the spellings we will update where we went yesterday on a mountain railway.
The mountain is called the Wendelstien from the top we could see well into Austria and even the top of the Grossglockner, all were covered with snow and this is not normal this early, everyone we have spoken with tell us it has been a really crap summer in Europe cold and wet.
See ya
