Today Cody, Hope and I are visiting New Orleans, Louisiana to learn more about the Energy Policy and Conservation Act. There are a lot of exciting attractions here in New Orleans, like the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. This is an emergency supply of oil for the United States and can hold up to 727 million barrels of fuel - it came with the creation of the Department of Energy and the Energy Policy and Conservation Act.

The Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA) also led to the creation of the Department of Energy. The original purpose of the act was to promote a method of conservation to the citizens of the United States. This point was made as the act stated that it was officially United States policy to reserve up to one billion barrels of petroleum.  Another portion of this was the Alternative Fuels Act of 1988 - which encouraged the development and usage of alternative motor fuels and alternative-fuel vehicles. Both of these created a new sense of conservation in the United States.

I am glad that this happened, and I’m sure many other Americans are as well. This act helped us cut down on the use of harmful and non-renewable fuels. It also, in my opinion, helped advocate the use of more modern and renewable resources. These resources, in most cases, are more environmentally and energy friendly.

Of course, in modern America, energy isn’t quite so easy. There is a definite crisis in energy - fuel prices! We, also, are running out quickly of fossil fuels like gasoline. Not only are we running out, but due to foreign affairs in specific countries, it is not easy to access. We advise Obama or Romney to take our troops out of these countries in order to create a more peaceful environment with those who provide us with this fuel. Not only will it promote energy, but it may conserve and save.
