Tukea, Hope, and I are staying here in San Francisco, California for the next couple of days. We are super excited! Everything here is incredible - the smells, the sights, but not so much the sounds. It is loud as well as beautiful. Anyway, we are staying at the place where Sara Jana Moore became the attacker on Gerald Ford - St. Francis Hotel. The second assassination attempt upon Gerald Ford within three weeks was on September 22, 1975. Just three weeks before, Lynette Fromme, follower of Charles Manson, had attempted an assassination on Gerald Ford in a similar manner to the following.
I can bring up an image in my mind of Moore bringing up the gun to shoot - and being stopped by the marine standing next to her. This marine, Oliver Sipple, grabbed the gun last second which caused her aim to be amiss
As I stood on the steps of the St. Francis hotel, I thought of Gerald Ford, stepping out unexpectedly. What must have been running through his brain? Does fear paralyze you when you’re being shot at, specifically for the second time in three weeks? The surreal feeling of everything seemed to take over me when I stood on those steps.
I advise Obama and Romney to be wise with their words - think of who you are affecting. Think of what emotions you will cause with your words. If you say something, think of whether or not it’s going to make them angry enough to want to shoot you (ha, ha). But in a serious manner, remember - think BEFORE you speak! This could not only save time, and headaches, but it could also save your life!
