Today we toured Boothbay Harbor, ME.  This is such a pretty area.  Quaint towns, fishing villages, lighthouses, seafood and ice cream..  What's not to love?  After exploring the town, we took a drive out to the end of the bay and discovered yet another Lighthouse!!!

And, of course, when in Maine you just MUST make a stop at LLBean in Freeport!  I remember the day when Bean was just a big barn and very quaint.  Now it's a mega-plaza with several buildings and outlets and high-end shopping area all around it.  I was longing for the "good old days".

Thirty-seven years ago I was with my parents, and an aunt and an uncle and my dad's cousins from California who owned a Winnebago and we were all traveling in their camper (plus Christian, who was 2) and we were headed up to Nova Scotia, but just had to make a stop at Beans.  We stayed in the parking lot.  In those days it was a novelty to have a business open 24/7 and Bean's was one of those stores.  My dad, and Fred and I couldn't wait to go over there around 2 in the morning just to see what "nuts" would be there...we didn't realize that WE were the NUTS!!!  Not sure there were too many in there at that hour. (Remember that fantastic trip, Virginia)!!

Now, this one really hurts. My first trip to Maine was 35 years ago this month. Stayed with a family in a cottage on Hodgdon Island (near Trevett) just down the road from the swing bridge. Sailed down the Sheepscot and through Townsend Gut to Boothbay Harbor. Heaven begins at Boothbay and goes down east (up the coast) to Winter Harbor. I want to go back!

Loved the Red Barn. The memories of our trip to Nova Scotia are strong. Especially Chris and spaghetti. LOVE

What amazing photos Sandy. Every one of them makes me want to jump in a plane and check it out in person. Maybe you could sell them to the chamber of commerce?
