DAY 365 - Where did the time go?  We are in Tampa, and we will spend until this Saturday am here and then we have a week in Disney, then we will look around Orlando, to see if we may be interested in making this area home.  Our reasoning, possibly working the winter season here and continuing to travel 6 months of the year.  We are contemplating the Maritimes in Canada next summer with several of the friends we made on our Alaska Trip, but this will be my last regular communication of this blog.  I hope you have all enjoyed it and have been able to see through my eyes all that we experienced.  I defies the proper words to do it justice!  I have very much appreciated all your comments on this blog.  It was a first for me, but since I mentioned Als Heimer seems to be knocking on the door, so having it written down reminds us of the whirlwind of a trip we were on. (You know, I HOPE I am kidding about Mr. Heimer).

There is a synopsis of  we did and in truth it doesn't cover ALL that we did.

Mileage:  17,291 as of today.  Nick has done ALL the driving.
Continents:  One amazing place - North America.  Canada, and even a stop in to Mexico
Cities:  15 In Canada; 6 in the Yukon Territory; 87 US cities that we stayed in and countless others that we visited.

Highlights of what we saw and did:  This is only a fraction of what we saw and did:

again, I'm sure I am missing some.

Animals we saw:

Moose, Bear; Fox; Whales; Porpoise; Dolphin, Otters, Sea Lions; Eagles; Osprey, Hawks, Crested Caracara (a great sighting for a bird watcher saw 2); Elk, Antelope, Big Horn Sheep, Mountain Goats, Burros, Mule Deer, Hummingbirds - and Of Course - ROAD KILL!!
Photos taken:  No wonder my camera is always breaking - I'm sure I took upwards of 10,000 photos - aren't you glad I didn't post them all?  If I ever get my act together I may do a book on Barns and one on Flowers, and then of course the Alaska/Canada part of the trip.  That will keep me busy for sure.
Along the way we met many wonderful people, renewed acquaintances with long time friends, saw some relatives, ran into some who knew our neighbors in Hilton Head - how bizarre is that?, and have made life-long friends from our Caravan Trip.

So, that's our year in a nutshell.  Again thanks for following along on our journey...until the next time....and there will be a next time, I'm sure.
Sandy and Nick (and the Flats who are still traveling with us!  Thanks Matt!!

Enjoyed every moment of your escapade... I will be anxiously waiting to read about any future travels you and Nick decide to tackle. The Maritime Provinces in Canada would be a great choice.
Enjoy your time with the kids at Disney.

Dave & Lorraine on

Hard to believe it has been a full year. Next winter we are planning a week at Disney so we will see you for sure. Maritime trip is coming together. Will keep you posted as Harold and i work out the bugs.
Congrats and find a place with a big driveway.

Sandy, you are an inspiration to me! I will miss reading your blog while drinking my morning coffee. Because of our traveling time together this snowbird trip, I've voted "The wedding trip" best snowbird adventure ever! Yes, it is all about the journey! Love you guys!

I've enjoyed your pictures and stories from all over. We've been to many of the places you visited, so it was nice to "re-live" those experiences through yours. Sign me up for future travel logs!

I feel I must chime in and give credit where credit is due - Sandy has devoted countless hours day in and day out to create this visual memory for us and for our relatives and friends (new and old) It has been a great journey with a wonderful partner - my wife, my best friend in life !! I could not have done it without her !! Love you always !!

Awesome! I just got back from Japan and China and had to catch up on your travelogue. Wow - a whole year! That puts my one time six months to shame! And now you'll have six months every year - so awesome! So did you sell your home in HHI?

Pamela on

What an amazing journey. We were never sure Nick's R.V. dream would come true but we are thrilled you had such a great time and that Nick is still alive!! hahaha Now don't you two even think about settling into the Villages down there between Orlando and Ocala. We just can't have our dear friends in such a state of partying all the time!!

jerrygolfboyer on

Wow!!! You would have spent a fortune on film AND processing (say hello to the digital age). Especially since I now see it was over 20,000 pictures.

Our little trip of a month in Florida (a couple years back) didn't fare nearly as well. After four days of misery, I ended up in Celebration's hospital for six days with a virus. Then we just came home. You guys did way better --- and for a whole year!

Glad we could ride along on your amazing journey. Thanks for sharing.
