Off to San Diego to see furry and human friends??

Our first stop was a day at the zoo. It's an older one, but they are doing all they can to update it. They have several aviaries with birds from all over the world (which I particularly enjoyed) and the usual array of "zoo animals". Having been to Africa twice and seeing so many of these animals in the wild, just breaks my heart to have to see them in cages. Although to their credit, most of the animals are in some kind of "habitat" that would match where they are from originally.
For some reason the birds found it the perfect time to mate - some of the "dances" they do are quite interesting
They have a nice bus system in place that will take you all around the park to give you an overview of the area, and then they have another shuttle bus which you can hop on and off all day. And, even a gondola that goes over the top of the zoo from one side to the other
The next day, we headed over to Veronica's house to see her and her children and three other cousins of Nick - Elly, Karen and Terry. The children are adorable. Julia, Luke and Allie. Allie had just turned 6 the day before. Julia was into rainbow bracelets and was nice enough to make me one. Remember, I ONLY have boy grandchildren. I was thrilled!
Once we left their home, we headed to La Jolla to see the seals, but since it was a four day weekend, there wasn't a parking space to be had anywhere near, so we ended up heading home.
All in all it was a nice weekend.
