Day 205 - Today we made a stop in Mesquite, NV at Virgin River Casino where we dry camped for one night.  I tried my luck at the slot machine "Lobster Larry"; but sadly, he was not good to me.  There goes my $20.00!!

Day 206 - We moved on to Boulder City and an upscale RV Park with a front row view of Lake Mead.  Unfortunately for us, it rained throughout the night and into the next day, so we decided to leave and find something a bit cheaper. Next day was rain and shopping.

Day 208 - Just up the road was Canyon RV park and we are spending 8 days here until we head down to Lake Havasu with friends.  We will spend Thanksgiving with our friends the Booth's, their son and daughter-in-law and her parents, siblings and grand-parents.  It should be a great time!

Day 209 - The weather finally cleared up and we went back to the Hoover Dam and walked over the Memorial Bridge overlooking the dam.  It turned out to be a little museum unto it self.  Lots of places to stop and read about the making of this structure spanning the dam and connecting Nevada and Arizona along the way.  The bridge is in memory of the Governor of Nevada, Mike O'Callaghan and Pat Tillman (football player and Veteran killed in the line of duty).

Construction on the bridge took 5 years from 2005-2010.  The length of the bridge is 1905 feet. Width is 88 feet; Height above the river is 880 feet; from the dam 280 feet.  The arch span length is1060 feet.  It took 30,000 cubic yards of concrete to build.

After the walk over the bridge (yes, Nick did go over, but walked as fast as he could go and never looked over the edge - but, good for him), we went into the small town of Boulder City.  It was quite quaint with lots of antique shops, old hotels, museums, a nice walking town and some GREAT coffee ice cream!!!  Claudia and I managed to get in a walk after that ice cream, so hopefully it didn't ALL go to the hips!

In the evening we went with Dick, Claudia and the grand-parents of Heather (the daughter-in Law) and Heather's parents.  After dinner, I promptly lost my $18.00 as Nick watched the Patriots miraculously win their game against Denver.

Day 210 - A nice day, warm and sunny - off to do errands and a general clean up inside while we had someone come over and wash and detail the rig.  Bye bye Alaska dirt (Finally)!!

That dam is quite the engineering masterpiece for its day. When I stand on it all I can think about is what would happen if all that water in the lake were released due to earthquake, sumo wrestlers, tornado, aliens, whatever!! HA

Sandy, it sounds like you and I have similar gambling habits. I purchase a roll of quarters and when their gone I grouse about it for the next week!! I'd rather spend my money on retail therapy and have something to show for it. haha

As you may see from all the comments I posted today, I am now up to date. I kinda like saving them up for a while then spending a bunch of time "with you" on the road. Seems like fun this way. Like sitting down with a good book - - you know, one with a lot of great pictures.
