Today we stayed long enough to watch the Patriots win the game.  We had to go to a sports bar at 10:00 a.m. pacific time - luckily they served breakfast and not just beer!!  We didn't actually get on the road until 1:40 p.m. and as we drove we were in driving rain (actually going sideways) and heavy winds that made the trip a bit on the scary side.  Especially as we traveled over a very tall bridge over a river open to the ocean and we actually blew over a lane...not fun by any means!!
The coastline was gray and lots of action on those waves with the spray just reaching upwards as they curl crashed down.  Pretty cool.

We pass the towns of Seal Rock (Driftwood Beach; Waldport and Yachats (Cape Perpetua and Devils Churn inside the Siuslaw National Forest), as we make our way to Florence, from Newport. After finding a place to pull off for 1/2 hour to wait out the storm, we finally make it to our destination safe and sound at 4:00 p.m.

Day 147 - Today we met up with Harold and Sue (from our Alaska Trip) and had a great lunch at a local restaurant.  We were in and out of rain, but we had a great long lunch.

Day 148 - Today we met up with Harold and Sue again and somehow in between pretty ugly looking weather, we managed to see the Oregon Dunes and the jetty and then headed up to Sea Lion Caves in what looked like a monsoon and the minute we got there the sun came out and it was a great visit to an amazing place!  That night we all hit the Casino and I won $115.00 on their free $10.00!  Neat!!

Day 149- Off to Coos Bay today - just a 50 mile drive.  We stayed at the Mill Casino and RV park - are we seeing a pattern yet????  That night I won $55.00 (Spent $20)...I'm liking these my luck changing??? Probably not!!  We have a nice view of the Coos Bay from our RV window.
Took Nick to a restaurant called Little Italy as a belated birthday present.  It was very good and in a great old building which was once a hotel and the room for the restaurant was their entrance and waiting area.  Quite fancy in the day I'm sure.

Ore Oregon coastline is rugged with huge holders from the Volcano days and it makes for a very picturesque coastline.  All beaches seem to be pretty rough with lots of warning signs but they would be great walking beaches that's for sure.

Now you can better understand why I was so disappointed in the eastern coastline when I moved here with my horses. I used to gallop along the beach for miles in the west. Here the beach is just a hint of sand for a few hundred yards!

I have traveled by car (Well actually it was a blue Hertz minivan) from Seattle to San Francisco. Your photos bring back memories!
