We are now on the Cassier Highway (37).  We are leaving the Yukon and entering into British Columbia.  On this ride we pass the Horseranch Range of Mountains - the oldest of the Northern British Columbian mountains dating back to the Cambrian period or before!  This area contains permatites with crytals of tourmaline, garnet, feldspar, quartz and beryl!  Too bad I didn't have time to dig me some up!!!

We were warned that the road was not great and we found that out first hand.  I will never complain about our roads again!!  Our estimated time to you 182 miles is 5 hours and it will probably take more time than that!

We pass a sign that talks about the Cassier Gold Fields.  The town back in the day was 3,000 strong. The largest all-gold nugget (no quartz) was found near here in 1877 and weighted 72 oz.   They are still actively mining in this area - and I guess you can see why!!

We made a stop at Jade City (pop 12)  One of the largest jade claims was discovered 83 miles east of here - in the world that is!  It is called the Princess Jade Mine. We went to the factory and saw how they cut the stones and of course went into their store.

Today Nick and I saw a beautiful fox and a Black Bear!  Things are looking up!

So when is your official 'end of trip'? Do you have some sort of going away party/banquet?
