8/24/13 - Today we have a 272 mile drive to Skagway.  We have a cloudy start with some drizzle.  The estimated time for this drive is up to 7.5 hours (Road conditions).  The temperature today is 47 degrees.  Sign of things to come no doubt.  Coming into Skagway after about 9 hours for us was a NIGHTMARE.  The last part of the trip is over a mountain and then a steep drop to sea level.  ALL IN A THICK FOG!!  You could not see to either side of the road and hardly very far in front of you.  It was definitely white knuckle time for Nick.

The landscape along the way was varied, but none so much as we got close to that mountain and we were in what looked like a lunar landscape - rocks everywhere (people were stopping to make rock towers) and then into the tundra with their white flowers that looked like snow.  It was something you would never expect to see.

Our campsite was right at the marina with the view of the harbor and all the cruise ships and also right next to town so easy to walk around everywhere.

I could feel the white knuckle tension of the drive/ride. Way to go Nick. How did the Flat's do?

Ah yes, the great NW territories and their infamous fog. Yet another phenomenon I DO NOT miss. haha
