Day 61- June 29th - was a clean up day, shoppin day and dinner out with friends.  End of story on that one!!

Day 62 - June 30th - First let me identify the bird on the branch as a Violet Green Swallow (thank you Kimber)!

We enjoyed a fun breakfast on the grill - everything was great - bacon, fried eggs, toast!! Needed that protein for what was to come!

We drive back in to Glacier National Park and headed up to a place called "Trail of the Cedars" which was a 2 mile hike (hey no problem, we old "fats" can do THAT) off we went.  It was about 2:30 when we started  "Up, Up and Away" (you DO notice all these "clever" references to songs, yes?)!!  So, it started out as a wooden walkway.  Hey, this is great!  As we continued forward, we soon learned that this puppy wasn't going for 2 miles...the trail was comprised for roots, rocks, dirt, and sometimes muddy under foot!  And did I mention it went UP!  We started at the 3,400 foot level and ended up around the 3,900 foot level...did I mention UP?  It really was a great trail, but it took one and one half hours to climb up to the Avalanche Lake.  Now mind you, I was stopping to take every moment to take a picture and Nick was forging ahead (as you will soon see)!  I'm SO lucky he is MINE!!!  Along the trail you see massive evidence of avalanches in the past...thousand of trees came down over the years.  But like all forests they have a new lease on life very quickly and the forest floor gets lot of sunlight, although is quite moist from the raging river that is full this time of year from the runoff of the melting shows still on the higher peaks.  We managed to make it to the top and enjoy the amazing lake and then back down which took a little less time and we were back at the car by 5:15 p.m.

As you will see the scenery was great, again...can't wait for Alaska and it's so close!
