Day 59 - Today we left for the 101 mile drive to Kalispell, MT.  Our elevation as we leave is 3,50l feet!  Right now it is sunny and 73 degrees and the forecast if for sunny and up into the 90's and higher by the weekend.

As we drive towards our campsite we come across Flathead Lake!  The most gorgeous lake you have ever seen.

Along the way, we pass some great signage:

Mountain Mocha - "For a Brewed Awakening"
Thrift Shop named - "Seconds2Go"
and a road sign saying - "Cell Phone Pull Out" (so it must be a law that you cannot talk while driving - not a bad idea for some people anyway)

After we arrive at the campsite and get settled into our place, we head up to Glacier for the afternoon and to check it out.

We immediately sign up for an 8 hour driving tour on one of the Red Bus Tours.  These cars have been in operation since around 1926.  They were recently all refurbished (33) and paid for entirely by Ford Motor Company ($3Million).

We enter the park on the West Entrance and drive a short distance to a little "village" at Lake McDonald.  There is a nice old style Lodge there and some shops.

We took a short drive up the road beside Lake McDonald (10 miles long), but we wanted to save the "Going to the Sun Road" for the professionals!

Can't wait for tomorrow!

How fun! I'll be there a month from now. I'm hiking up to Sperry Chalet i n Glacier to spend some time with a friend from the Ice who works at Sperry in the summer. I also know one of the drivers; he works on the Ice too. Can't think of his name, but he has white hair and beard. Have fun!

SO, where were the "Flats" while viewing Flathead Lake?
Wish the Booths were with you!
