Well, I got here. The plane ride wasn't too bad. Only nine hours, 2 movies and food. Free alcohol but I didn't partake because I'm a good little boy (actually I didn't want to show up hammered). The travel went pretty well except one student left his backpack on the Frankfurt city train with his Passport, Money, wallet, and digital camera in it. luckily he was able to find it & get it back with everything in it on Tuesday!!! Once we finally got to Kassel my host mother picked me up at the airport and took me to her apartment. It's a 2 bedroom place & another student is there right now from Mauritius (in the Indean Ocean off the coast of Madagascar) named Philippe. We each have a room and Karin sleeps on the couch.
The school is really good. We have class in the morning for about 4 hours, then lunch and different activities in the afternoons. I've only been here for a couple of days and I already can tell that my German has improved immensely. We went on a tour of the city. 80% of it was destroyed in WWII and there is a very noticeable different in the age of the buildings. As you come out of the city center where most of the damage was to the outer city you can see a very noticeable difference in the age of the buildings. They go from 20-60 years old to 100-200 in the space of a few buildings.
So I'm settling in and can tell that this trip will be an interesting one. So if you have time check out the random pics that I have so far. This weekend we are going to Weimar.... More thumbnails ...
